Proper Fish is known to have some of the best fish and chips in the Seattle area and I concur. I've been to this place for years now and their specialty is a crispy, battered, British-style fish and chips. It shines in its simplicity and is the peak of fried deliciousness. Be warned, the portions are huge and an order of fish and chips could easily feed two. I also love the addition of some mushy peas because they are minty and add nice relief from the grease of the fried food. I really like their fish and chips! I have also tried their cod chowder as well as their fish tacos and I think that they were forgettable and missable. The cod chowder was kind of bland and the fish tastes chewier and tougher (stick to Pike Place chowder) and the fish tacos just didn't do it for me. I think that it tastes really inauthentic and the addition of fried potatoes on top would be better if replaced with something more fresh like guac or avocado. Regardless, I would just get the fish and chips here. The restaurant sometimes gets bombarded and the wait times are LONG. Try placing an order online to reduce wait times and be warned that sometimes there isn't room for seating. Overall, this establishment has always been a top contender for my stomach space every time I visit Bainbridge.

Decided to stop by and check out this place because I've heard that this place has the best and most authentic fish and chips in the Seattle area!! And I can definitely say that it is authentic as it has mushy peas and very thick chips! I thought the cod was very good and well fried and fresh! And tastes great with the tartar sauce and lemon :) I did take a star off because I didn't like the chips as much, they tasted kinda dry.. I also think that it was on the pricier side ($22)

THE best beer battered fish and chips. (just the fish part, not so much the chips). The fish was so flaky fresh and enormous. Yet I ate it ALL by myself. could not let any of it go to waste. the crunch.. the fresh out of fryer fish.. oh my. just heavenly. The chips were lacking however, dry and almost seemed refried. leftover fries, stale and unimpressive. Wish it was fresher like the fish. Kenji Alt Lopez recommended this place and it did not disappoint.

This has got to be the best fish and chips I've ever had! Truly was having a moment as I had my first bite. There's ample meat inside the fish (flesh to batter ratio was balanced). I love that they also give you a scoop of mashed peas in true English style. This place is super fresh and I'd go back to bainbridge just to eat here again. Definitely a lot of people but were able to get seated fairly quickly and the food came out fast.

Holy goodness! These are the best fish and chips I've ever had!!! Seriously a must try if you're here even just for a day trip! The fish is so buttery and so crispy, it's perfection. I loved the tartar sauce with the whole capers in it. The fries were perfection too. We split one order between the two of us and it was perfect, the fish is huge! We came on a Saturday around early lunchtime and we just beat the lunch rush. The restaurant was still totally full but there wasn't a long line. You wait in line to order then go sit down and they bring the food to you. I would say be prepared to wait in line and for a table or take it to go and go picnic somewhere on the water. There is a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating but it gets pretty packed inside for lunch time.

Don't let the pictures fool you- the portion sizes are huge. The 1 piece of fish they give you is the size of 3 regular pieces of fish elsewhere. The fried oysters were also well portioned. Mushy peas are love or hate- they are minty and slightly sweet. Service was friendly, you order first and they give you a number for your table. Casual ambiance with indoor and outdoor seating.

Overall one of the most pleasant experiences I've had in Bainbridge. The service was so quick and SO nice. It was pretty empty on a rainy Friday afternoon, lots of available seating. We ordered the fish and chips and were very happy with the fish. It was super buttery and crispy, absolutely steaming hot when cut open. Flavors were good and solid and some of the best I've had. The fries were unfortunately cold and soggy and slightly under seasoned. So we didn't think it was a 5/5.
